Research & Surveys – South Kingstown Land Trust

In addition to the staff’s constant monitoring, South Kingstown Land Trust partners with environmental and scientific organizations, most often professors and students from URI, to conduct ecological research on a wide variety of subjects. These data driven research projects have included monitoring water and habitat quality at several different ponds and watersheds. Past wildlife surveys include bees, fishers, dragonflies and damselflies, American woodcocks, and more.

2024 StoryMap of Mill Pond

In 2024, URI Coastal Fellow intern Kelsey Tichenor joined the land trust team and took on the massive project of mapping and monitoring the water quality and characteristics of Mill Pond, the pond that powers the grist mill.
