We are excited to welcome Tasha and Alexia to the SKLT team!

Tasha Sussman Moss is our new Development & Outreach Coordinator, stepping into Matt Eldridge’s shoes at SKLT. A recent graduate of American University, Tasha earned degrees in Environmental Studies and Public Policy with a focus on coastal community resilience. Raised in Rhode Island, she developed a deep connection to the coast and an early awareness of how environmental issues affect both ecosystems and the people who depend on them. Her experience includes working with the URI Coastal Resource Center on renewable energy projects, coastal resource management, and community engagement initiatives. Tasha is passionate about climate solutions, with a particular interest in community-driven approaches to environmental resilience. An avid hiker, backpacker, and traveler, she feels most at home exploring the natural landscapes she is committed to protecting.

Alexia Powell is SKLT’s summer intern, Alexia is a rising senior at the University of Rhode Island, majoring in Wildlife and Conservation Biology. Growing up in New Jersey, her time spent exploring forests and parks sparked a lasting passion for nature that continues to shape her academic and career path. At URI, she works with the Cooperative Extension as a teaching assistant for the Master Gardener course, helping grade assignments, organize plant sales, and support hands-on volunteer sessions. This role has deepened her skills in environmental education, community engagement, and sustainable gardening.

Alexia plans to pursue graduate studies in wildlife conservation, with a focus on endangered species recovery. Whether conducting research or exploring the outdoors, she’s driven by a commitment to protecting biodiversity. In her free time, you can find her hiking scenic trails, traveling to new places, or unwinding beneath a tree with a good book in hand.
