We were thrilled to host the Rhode Island Youth Conservation League (YCL) at Biscuit City Preserve last week for several days of trail clearing, invasive plant removal, and site cleanup.
YCL, a program of the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, brings together high school and early college students each summer to support land stewardship efforts across the state. Guided by experienced crew leaders and SKLT’s Land Management Director, Thomas Meyer, these seven students worked hard to care for one of our most ecologically sensitive and well-loved properties.
Programs like YCL not only help us maintain critical habitats today—they also inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.
This collaboration was made possible thanks to generous funding from the Mary LaMoine Potter Fund through the Conservation Stewardship Collaborative Endowment at the Rhode Island Foundation. We’re deeply grateful for their support in helping us carry out this important work.
