Happy fall, everyone! The air is cooler, the beaches are quieter, and hunting season is just beginning.

In this issue of SiteLines, we share updates from our Monitoring and Surveying program, with a focus on addressing violations, highlight SKLT’s conservation easement farms, and introduce EverGreen Legacy Voices—a new series featuring stories from our EverGreen members about why they chose to include the South Kingstown Land Trust in their wills, and the meaningful connections they have to the land and environment here in South Kingstown.

We’ve also planned a full calendar of fall events. Join us for lecture and potluck nights with RINHS Executive Director David Gregg on moths, and with Russ Cohen, who will share his expertise on edible plants—both native and invasive. We’ll be leading hikes too, including a very special “secret hike” on SKLT property that’s usually closed to the public.

A special thank you goes out to our amazing volunteers—we couldn’t do this work without you! To celebrate, we’ll be hosting a Volunteer Thank-You Bonfire in November.

Other exciting updates: Gator Tours are in full swing, and this October we’ll be partnering with birding enthusiast Barbara Seith to celebrate Birdability Week, bringing accessible and inclusive birding opportunities to SKLT. Stay tuned for more details!

And a quick reminder: hunting season is here. Whether you’re hiking, birdwatching, or just taking a stroll in the woods, please wear blaze orange for safety. (And if you’d like to sport an SKLT Blaze Orange baseball cap, email tasha.sussman.moss@sklt.org.)

Here’s to crisp fall hikes, colorful foliage, and plenty of roasted vegetables!
