Longtime SKLT members Linda and Howland Green propagate and grow this particularly deer-resistant variety from their own stock. These trees are native to the West coast, where they are known as “Giant West Coast Cedars”. The Green Giant arborvitae is a beautiful evergreen that will grow rapidly but can be pruned to the height desired. Its natural pyramidal to conical form boasts dense, rich green foliage that darkens or bronzes slightly in the winter. It will grow in light from full sun to shade and in all kinds of soils. The Greens specialize in growing evergreens for their beauty and year-round ability to trap carbon dioxide and produce oxygen.
